- What is Communitas House Call service?
Simply put, Communitas House Call service = doctor visits at your home. Our doctor, Dr Landon Roussel, is a primary care doctor with additional experience & expertise providing house calls to elderly patients who can’t get to the doctor’s office due to age, debility or other medical conditions.
- Why house calls?
At Communitas, we offer house calls to provide quality medical care in the comfort of your own home without having to go through the hassle of the waiting room, traffic or busy hospitals--unless absolutely necessary.
- What makes someone homebound?
While there is no hard and fast rule regarding that makes a person home-bound, Medicare says you are homebound “if you need help of another person or medical equipment such as crutches, a walker, or a wheelchair to leave your home, or if your doctor believes your health could get worse if you leave your home.”
Some common conditions that make our patients homebound include:
--Severe debility due to age or medical condition
--Dementia with agitation
--Shortness of breath with minimal to moderate exertion
--Stroke with mobility impairment
- What services does Communitas House Call service provide?
First and foremost, we provide doctor visits. Our doctor, Dr Landon Roussel, will provide house calls as much as necessary (within the confines of his schedule) to you as a homebound patient or your homebound loved one.
In addition, we serve as the ‘control center’ for coordinating your care across various services needed to provide you the care you need and deserve. Whether it’s medication refills, home health nursing, home physical therapy, specialty referrals or hospital admissions, our clinic will refer you where you need to go and work hard to get you the service you need.
- What insurances do you accept?
We accept Medicare original. You will be responsible for the annual deductible ($183) plus the co-insurance (20%). If you have a supplemental plan, then please consult the supplemental carrier for coverage of the patient responsibility.
- What if I have a Medicare Advantage plan such as Humana, People’s Health, United MCO, Blue Advantage, WellCare or Vantage Health?
At present, we do not contract with Medicare Advantage plans. That said, some plans such as PPO plans may pay for Out-of-Network benefits. If you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan and are homebound, we encourage you to consult with your plan to inquire about your benefits for house calls. If your plan does not cover Dr Roussel, then Communitas will bill you at the full Medicare rate.
- What if I am enrolled in hospice, can Dr Roussel still be my/ my loved one’s doctor?
Yes, as long as Dr Roussel is designated as your attending physician with the hospice agency.
