- What is Communitas House Call service?
Simply put, Communitas House Call service = doctor visits at your home. Our doctor, Dr Landon Roussel, is a primary care doctor with additional experience & expertise providing house calls to elderly patients who can’t get to the doctor’s office due to age, debility or other medical conditions.
- Why house calls?
At Communitas, we offer house calls to provide quality medical care in the comfort of your own home without having to go through the hassle of the waiting room, traffic or busy hospitals--unless absolutely necessary.
- What makes someone homebound?
While there is no hard and fast rule regarding that makes a person home-bound, Medicare says you are homebound “if you need help of another person or medical equipment such as crutches, a walker, or a wheelchair to leave your home, or if your doctor believes your health could get worse if you leave your home.”
Some common conditions that make our patients homebound include:
--Severe debility due to age or medical condition
--Dementia with agitation
--Shortness of breath with minimal to moderate exertion
--Stroke with mobility impairment - What services does Communitas House Call service provide?
Communitas Doctor House Call Service members receive routine regardless of condition or medical need exams at home with exam-related communication support services. Membership fees cover the routine exams, related communications and travel expenses. These services, designed to be outside plan coverage and focused on ongoing diagnostic assessments, result in house calls unhurried by plan requirements or restrictions with the doctor, who will provide outstanding care in the comfort of you or your loved one’s home.
- Is Communitas Doctor House Call Service covered by Medicare?
The Communitas Doctor House Call Service provides routine regardless of medical condition or need exams, at home, which are outside Medicare coverage. Members subscribing to the Doctor House Call Service will be required to pay the monthly membership fee. That said, our routine exams may uncover conditions that require medically indicated diagnosis and treatment covered by Medicare or your insurance company. Communitas will provide plan-covered services as indicated, and will continue to bill your plan for covered services as per policy guidelines (copayments/deductibles may apply to any plan-covered care).
- How much does it cost?
The Communitas Doctor House call service fee is $175/month.
This can be billed quarterly at $500/quarter or annually at $1800/year. - I don’t want to enroll in the Doctor House Call Service. Can I still get a House Call?
Yes. Communitas Primary Care will still offer Nurse Practitioner directed one-time routine exam house calls for patients who do not enroll in the Doctor House Call Service.
- What insurances do you accept??
We accept original Medicare and all supplement plans. Should you have original medicare, you will be responsible for whatever portion of the annual deductible and co-insurance that is not covered by the supplement.
In addition, we accept some Medicare Advantage plans. For information about whether we can accept your Medicare Advantage plan, please call our office and provide a copy of your insurance card. We will get back to you with more detailed coverage information.
- Who is the doctor at Communitas?
Dr. Landon Roussel is the owner and doctor at Communitas Primary Care. He trained as an intern and resident in Internal Medicine specializing in Primary Care through Harvard Medical School at the Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts from 2013 to 2016. There, he was a Clinical Fellow in Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He earned his M.D. from Cornell Medical College in New York City, a master’s degree in bioethics summa cum laude through the Erasmus Mundus program in the Universities of Leuven (Belgium), Radboud (Netherlands) and Padova (Italy) and bachelors’ degrees magna cum laude in biochemistry and Hispanic studies from Rice University in Houston.
While at Harvard, he spent extra time in geriatrics care providing house calls to residents of Cambridge, MA. When he came to Baton Rouge to start a clinic 2016, he continued this passion and tradition of doing house calls in order to provide outstanding care to elderly patients in the comfort of their own home.. Dr Roussel has performed thousands of house calls in the Southeast Louisiana area and has extensive experience providing care for elderly patients who are home bound due to frailty, dementia, arthritis and other medical comorbidities.
Dr Landon has earned the reputation as the ‘house call doctor’ in Louisiana and is known for his care and compassion for the homebound elderly.

Adrienne Clark earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Lafayette. Prior to joining Communitas, Adrienne worked as a Registered Nurse at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital with the Hospital Medicine Service.
